London Triathlon Spectators

With the race concentrated around ExCeL, it makes for a great spectator arena. The Transition and the Finish are indoors – so makes a great place to watch from! Make sure you bring all your friends and family along for the day.

Triathlon Elite Race Viewing
In 2010, the elites will follow the same course as the age group athletes in the Olympic Distance event. The Female elites take off on the swim at 10:20am followed by the Male elites at 10:45. You can expect the top male pro to be out of the water in 17 minutes, with an hour on the bike & 35 minutes on the run.
Triathlon Swim Viewing
The swim area can be viewed from the Dockside which can be accessed from either side of ExCeL.  This year we have built a pedestrian bridge on the east side of ExCeL so friends and family can watch you from almost anywhere on the dockfront.
Triathlon Bike Viewing
We suggest spectators view the bike section from the west entrance of ExCeL (before the multi storey car park), both the walkways from the DLR at Custom House Station and Prince Regent Station to ExCeL or from under the Fox bar at  ground level.
Triathlon Run Viewing
The run course can be viewed anywhere outside the east of ExCeL as the route stretches along the north edge of the dock. The run route also loops through Expo so you can also see the runners from inside ExCeL.
Our top tips for enjoyable spectating!
• Tell your athlete where you'll be on the course so they can look for you as well.
• Know the course. Look over the map in advance so you know what to expect on race day.
• Know your athlete's start time & projected times for each leg of the event. This should give you a good idea of when they'll arrive at any point on the course.
• Allow yourself plenty of time to park. There are plenty of parking spaces in ExCeL, or you can use the DLR. Plan to arrive early.
•Be careful along the course.  Please be careful when crossing the route and only cross at dedicated crossing points.
• Have a meeting spot for after the race.
• Remember your essentials: hat, sunscreen, sunglasses and bottled water.
NB: Please remind spectators that they must respect the safety of the competitors and they are urged to always be aware of the race going on around them. The Britannia Pedestrian Bridge which crosses Victoria Dock is a public right of way and is not to be used as a viewing platform for safety reasons. Please only use it to cross the docks.
